Glomerular basement
antibodies are directed against collagen IV and associated with
Goodpasture's disease. Common epitopes are found in the renal and
alveolar basement membrane hence causing pulmonary haemorrhage and
haemoptysis. Early diagnosis is essential as the the untreated condition
can be fatal.
GBM antibodies are
associated with Goodpasture's syndrome.
